Review: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Adobe Photoshop PDF

Developer: Naughty Dog

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Release Date: May 10, 2016

Played Platform: PS4

Things I liked:

  • Stunning graphics
  • Playing a Crash Bandicoot level on the slim PlayStation 1
    • Nostalgia and Easter egg
  • Can choose to either hold the button or tap when doing QuickTime events (QTE)
    • Change it under the settings option
  • Seeing the different journals and treasures from the past three games
  • The ammo from enemies you killed before you died still on the ground
    • The past three games, it disappeared
  • Stealth encounters improved
    • AI is highly improved – reminded me of Assassin’s Creed alert
    • Allies able to take down enemies as well
    • Able to mark enemies to see where they are while walking around
  • New gears
    • Grappling hook and piton
  • Innovative way to use the Dualshock 4 controller
    • Wished they implemented more in the game

It seems that they got rid of tossing the grenade back from the third game which I hoped they had it (probably mapped it to another button)

Things I did not liked:

  • Allies sometime get in the way when walking around the tall grass
  • Little to no navigation – not sure where to go
  • Felt that the sensitivity slightly changes when aiming with a pistol versus a sub-machine gun
  • Not major – had to adjust reloading with the triangle instead of R1 (Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection controls)
  • A lot of enemies everywhere in some encounters and hard to move stealthily
